10 QUESTIONS FOR A SAMPAGUITA VENDOR
Jasminium sambac is a flower native to southwestern, southeast and southern Asia. It is locally known as sampaguita in the Philippines and is referred to as the country’s national flower.
Sampaguita is often sold outside the church; however, for Princess’ case, she sells sampaguita on the busy streets of Manila during the night.
(Why did you decide to sell sampaguita on the streets and not outside the church?)
(I also sell outside the church during Sundays. But during the night, I sell them on the street to civilians.)
QUESTION 2: Nag-aaral ka ba? (Do you go to school?)
PRINCESS: Opo. Second year high school na po ako. (Yes and I am currently a second year student.)
QUESTION 3: Paano ka nakakapaghanda sa pag-aaral mo? (How do you prepare for school if you sell sampaguita during the night? For example, reviewing for an exam or answering your homework?)
(I don’t go home late. I do my school work as soon as I arrive at home.)
QUESTION 4: Bakit mo naisipan magbenta ng sampaguita? (Why did you want to sell sampaguita?)
(My mom is having a difficult time raising me and my siblings. I want to help her. That is why, I study and work at the same time.)
QUESTION 5: Ilan kayong magkakapatid? (How many are you and your siblings?)
PRINCESS: Anim po. (Six.)
QUESTION 6: Yung tatay ninyo? Tumutulong ba siya sa pamilya? (Does your father help the family?)
PRINCESS: Ah, hindi na po. Iniwan na po niya kami. (Not anymore. He already left us.)
(What is your ambition?)
PRINCESS: Gusto ko po maging nars. (I want to become a nurse.)
QUESTION 8: Bakit naman nurse? Kasi hindi ba, kadalasan teacher ang gusto? (Why become a nurse?)
(That is my mom’s dream, to become a nurse. I will strive hard in order to achieve that.)
QUESTION 9: Napansin ko kanina, kumakanta ka. Mahilig ka ba kumanta? Sino ang idol mo na singer? (I’ve noticed earlier that you were singing. Do you like to sing? Who is your favorite singer?)
PRINCESS: Opo. (Yes, I love to sing. My favorite singers are Lea Salonga and Sarah Geronimo.)
QUESTION 10: Ano ang paborito mong kanta? (What is your favorite song?)
PRINCESS: Forever’s Not Enough. (Forever’s Not Enough)

Pinoy Tumblr.: A Typo Spells Romance For RP Salazars

pinoytumblr:

This is the story of a romance that began with a typo. In 2007, Rachel Salazar was living in Bangkok, Thailand, and Ruben Salazar was in Waco, Texas. Their email addresses were nearly identical.

One morning, Ruben checked his email, and he found a note intended for someone else. “I discovered it…

LIFE

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn’t supposed to ever let us down, probably will. You’ll have your heart broken and you’ll break others’ hearts. You’ll fight with your best friend or maybe even fall in love with them, and you’ll cry because time is flying by. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, forgive freely, and love like you’ve never been hurt.

Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances. you just have to live life to the fullest, tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone’s hand, comfort a friend, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, be a flirt, and smile until your face hurts.

Don’t be afraid to take chances or fall in love and most of all; live in the moment because every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness you can never get back!

Jobless Americans Try Cab Driving in Philippines

Having lost their jobs, the two end up as cab driver and barker along northeastern Philippines. They suck at getting passengers though, but at least their Filipino accent is flawless.

Aquino Promises Tracker

pinoytumblr:

The AQUINO PROMISES TRACKER aims to monitor the promises made by President Benigno Aquino III to the Filipino nation.

ABS-CBNNEWS.com collected dozens of promises, in topics ranging from taxes to textbooks. The majority of these promises came from Aquino’s 10-point agenda, which he outlined during his campaign. Other promises are from his statements during the campaign and during his first days in office. If a new promise is made, it will be included in this site.

The Aquino administration’s action on each promise is rated by abs-cbnNEWS.com in two levels: first, if the promise is being acted upon, and then, once finished, if the promise is kept, broken, or a compromise is reached. The status of the promises will be updated regularly.

Here, the complete vectored map of the Philippines. It kept me busy for the last few weeks whenever work isn’t overflowing. I had to adjust the sizes of the trees for consistency and re-arrange some elements specially on the Visayas and Mindanao. Clean and larger versions on my Behance!
